Koshi - artisanal chimes from France

Features and tuning

Koshi chimes are available in four unique tunings, inspired by the four elements:

• Ignis (Fire): the notes G, B, D, G, B, D, G, A
• Terra (Earth): Notes G, C, E, F, G, C, E, G
• Aqua (Water): Tones A, D, F, G, A, D, F, A
• Aria (Air): Notes A, C, E, A, B, C, E, B

Each tuning offers a unique sound experience and together they create harmonious melodies that can be used for meditation, yoga or sound therapy.

Precise craftsmanship

Koshi chimes are made from thin layers of bamboo treated with natural oil, which guarantees their excellent acoustics. Eight metal, hand-tuned resonant rods are attached to the bamboo base, which together create rich and resonant tones.

Gold cut and 432Hz

A mathematical ratio known as the golden ratio is used in the manufacturing process, which has been used in art and architecture for thousands of years to improve acoustics and tone quality. The author has also found a way of correlating the frequencies using an empirical factor to harmonize even shorter bars with longer ones. It cannot be said that this frequency is downright therapeutic, but we have heard from customers all over the world who have successfully used these chimes in music therapy as well. 

Use and maintenance

You can hold the chime in your hand and play it gently, or hang it up and let the wind play it for you. You can also combine it with other Koshis in other tunings for a unique acoustic experience. We recommend keeping the chimes dry and protecting them from moisture.
